Toyota Recalls Rav4 Sport Utility Vehicles and Lexus HS 250h Hybrid Cars due to potential failure of Rear Suspension

Wright-Schulte-Toyota-RecallToyota Motor Corporation announced Wednesday it is recalling approximately 76,000 RAV4 utility vehicles, manufactured between 2006 and 2011, and 18,000 Lexus HS 250h hybrid cars, manufactured in 2010, in the United States. The carmaker states the recall is to correct problems with their rear suspension. If the nuts on the rear suspension are not tightened correctly when performing a rear wheel alignment, rust may build up and could result in failure of the rear suspension. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in a similar defect investigation with 2006 – 2008 Toyota Rav4’s, said the rear suspension arm assembly “may fail due to corrosion, potentially, causing a loss of vehicle control.” []
